El Nido - Protected Area 5

Tell others about El Nido and the need to protect its environs.

Visiting El Nido as an eco-friendly tourist means you help the local economy while helping save the environment.

Visiting El Nido would also help you, your family and friends appreciate the majestic beauty of nature.

El Nido - Protected Area 2

What needs protection?
5 types of forest: lowland evergreen, semi-deciduous forest,
forest over limestone, beach forest and mangrove forest.

Be an environment-friendly tourist. The adage, 'Take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints, kill nothing but time' may be over-used, but the soundness of the advice certainly hasn't diminished.

During your visit, try to do the least damage to the environment.

El Nido - Protected Area 1

The sheer drama of the seascape of El Nido inspires awe and reverence of nature's beauty.

Beyond the façade, this spectacular setting is home to a wide range of flora and fauna, many of which are endemic or found nowhere else on earth.

It is because of its uniqueness that the El Nido-Taytay Managed Resource Protected Area was declared in 1998.

The Protected Area status accords the area of El Nido a place among the 10 priority sites in the Philippines in need of conservation.

The Protected Area covers a total of 90,321 hectares, of which 40% are terrestrial and 60% marine.

El Nido - Palawan - Philippines 4

The dry season is from around November to May with temperatures above 30 degrees centigrade and rain is rare.

The most popular tourist times in El Nido are Christmas and Easter.

With the Philippines being 95% Catholic the celebration of these two events in the Catholic calendar bring out another side to El Nido. Especially in Easter where there is a week long festival including town parades and markets.

El Nido - Palawan - Philippines 3

Yet El Nido has so many different treasures to offer beyond the obvious.

Further activities available include cliff climbing, waterfalls, kayaking, cave exploration, windsurfing, plus you can also hire a motorbike and discover the surrounding north of Palawan.

El Nido - Palawan - Philippines 2

El Nido is a top destination for island hopping, book your boat, take some food, some drinks in a cool box and disappear into the heavenly marine reserve that is Bacuit Bay.

It is a truly relaxing and inspiring place; Alex Garland wrote "The Beach" while living here.

Scuba diving is also a popular activity here with over 30 dive sites for varying levels and skills; from taking the plunge and learning to dive for the first time, to perfecting your expertise and advancing your qualifications.

El Nido - Palawan - Philippines 1

El Nido really is a magical place.

From its ageless towering marble cliffs to its white sandy beaches with crystal clear water.

Many refer to it as paradise.

There are over 50 beaches to discover.

So many beaches in fact that sometimes you feel as if you are on your own secluded private beach.

You will also find enchanting lagoons with tranquil turquoise-green water, caves that can take you to hidden beaches, and a very diverse variety of wildlife.

Entalula Island, El Nido, Palawan - Philippines

Entalula Island is the best beach island in the Bacuit Bay group of islands in El Nido, Palawan. It is a small, secluded area with limestone cliffs protecting the beach.

It is a private island owned by El Nido Resorts, but a small portion of the beach can be publicly accessed by island-hopping tourists from El Nido town.

The beach has sugar-fine, white sand that could very well match Boracay’s famous sand. I'm glad they decided not to build a resort on the island to maintain its pristine charm.

The best part of the Entalula Island experience is that you can request the resort to arrange lunch or dinner there for you. That way, you get to enjoy the beach privately and you can savor the time spent with your group or just your special someone.
